Marko and Family

Marko was born on March 31, 2020. Before he was three months old, we noticed low muscle tone. We started rehabilitation, but there was no improvement. At eleven months, the diagnosis came — LAMA2 muscular dystrophy. Until the very end, we hoped it was something treatable. When we found out, our world collapsed. The hardest part was accepting what cannot be. But we are managing.

Today Marko is a smiling and cheerful child. He attends a public kindergarten with his personal assistant Inna Georgieva — or as he calls her, Inka Kalinka. He goes to rehabilitation, swimming, and speech therapy. He loves playing with his older sister Bozhana and his friends. In summer, we spend time together at the playgrounds — we ride bikes with a trailer, eat ice cream, and play in the sandboxes.

We strive for a full life, as long as our health allows it. Life goes on. We celebrate the small victories.
